SENIOR DESIGNER – WOMENSWEAR

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of women’s wear collections in line with the brand’s identity and seasonal direction.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging fashion trends, fabrics, silhouettes, and techniques relevant to the brand.
• Develop design concepts, mood boards, and storyboards for each season.
• Oversee the end-to-end design process from concept to final sample, including sketching, fabric selection, trims, and detailing.
• Collaborate closely with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure design intent is maintained through execution.
• Ensure adherence to brand aesthetics, target customer profile, and cost parameters.
• Review prototypes and provide design inputs during sampling and fittings.
• Mentor and guide junior designers in the development of styles, presentation, and research.
• Maintain awareness of sustainability goals and incorporate responsible material and process choices wherever possible.

Qualifications

• Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Fashion Design from a reputed institute.
• 6–8 years of experience in women’s wear design (ethnic or fusion), preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
• Strong understanding of women’s wear silhouettes, fabrics, surface embellishments, and garment construction.
• Creative eye for colour, proportion, and detailing aligned with brand positioning.
• Ability to translate trends into commercially viable collections.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CorelDRAW.
• Strong understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), draping, and pattern-making concepts.
• Creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative approach to work.

Experience

• 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in women’s wear design, focusing on ethnic or fusion styles within the fashion or retail sectors.
