Job Summary
The Director — Business Finance will oversee the financial performance of Agilitas’s new retail channel, focusing on store-level profitability, capital efficiency, and strategic investment decisions. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role involves partnering with retail and commercial leadership to drive financial planning, analysis, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, pre-IPO environment. The position is based in Bengaluru and plays a critical role in scaling the company’s omnichannel retail presence.
Responsibilities
- Own P&L and unit economics for the new retail concept, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, capex optimization, working capital, and contribution per store.
- Build and maintain store-level business cases such as capex payback, break-even analysis, and ROI for new store openings and renewals.
- Partner with retail operations on inventory planning, sell-through analysis, markdown/discount governance, and managing retail stock working capital.
- Lead monthly channel performance reviews, including budget vs. actual analysis, like-for-like growth, and channel mix shifts, with detailed commentary for leadership and board reporting.
- Coordinate with Legal teams on new store signings, negotiate lease agreements, and develop retail/distribution strategies.
- Support the online platform from a finance perspective, including unit economics, logistics/fulfillment cost modeling, and CAC/LTV tracking as the platform scales.
- Own retail-specific statutory and compliance inputs such as GST on retail sales and e-invoicing at store level, in collaboration with tax and controllership teams.
- Drive cost discipline on store fit-out capex and renewal negotiations.
- Support retail channel data room inputs (unit economics, cohort analysis, store maturity curves) for investor and board presentations.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in business finance / FP&A, with significant exposure to retail-heavy consumer, fashion, footwear, or lifestyle businesses (brand-owned retail, franchise, or LFR-heavy GTM).
- Strong understanding of retail unit economics — capable of building and defending store P&L models.
- Educational qualifications: CA / MBA (Finance) preferred.
- Proven ability to work directly with retail and commercial operations leadership.
- High ownership mindset with a terse, action-oriented communication style.
- Experience working in a fast-moving, pre-IPO environment.
- Advanced Excel skills; exposure to retail/inventory systems such as Olabi, POS, ERP systems is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with retail/inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret cohort analysis and store maturity data.
- Negotiation skills for lease agreements and renewal negotiations.
- Familiarity with statutory compliance related to retail sales (GST, e-invoicing).
Experience
- Minimum of 7+ years in business finance, FP&A, or related roles.
- Prior experience in retail, consumer, fashion, footwear, or lifestyle sectors is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in managing store P&L and driving profitability in a retail environment.
