Job Summary

The Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance role is a key position within the R&D function, reporting directly to the CEO. This individual contributor role requires independent ownership and decision-making authority. The successful candidate will oversee regulatory compliance and quality assurance activities, ensuring the company's products meet all safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing documentation, and proactively identifying and mitigating regulatory and quality risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory affairs and quality assurance activities across all products and ingredients.
• Manage safety evaluations and prepare regulatory documentation to ensure compliance.
• Support the documentation process related to clinical efficacy and product claims.
• Ensure adherence to applicable food and ingredient regulations, including labelling and claims.
• Conduct and oversee supplier quality audits to maintain high standards.
• Review product labelling, claims, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Sales, Operations, and other teams to align regulatory and quality strategies.
• Identify potential regulatory and quality risks and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate them.
• Develop and strengthen processes related to quality management, compliance, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Educational Qualification: Food Technologist degree (mandatory).
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of food regulations, safety evaluations, labelling, and compliance.
  • Experience in regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and food safety within the food or ingredient industry.
  • Prior experience with a leading Tier 1 food/FMCG organization.
  • Knowledge of supplier audits and quality systems.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take an objective stance.
  • Confident in challenging internal stakeholders such as Sales or Operations when necessary.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Familiarity with clinical efficacy documentation and product claims.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of international food safety standards and regulations.

Experience

• Proven experience in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Food Safety within the food or ingredient industry.
• Prior experience with Tier 1 food or FMCG companies is mandatory.
• Relevant experience in supplier audits and quality systems management.

Environment

• The role can be based in Lucknow or Bangalore.
• The work environment involves collaboration across multiple departments including R&D, Sales, and Operations.
• The position may require occasional travel for supplier audits or regulatory inspections.
• The role is primarily office-based with a focus on documentation, audits, and cross-functional coordination.
