Job Summary

The SAP Basis Lead will play a critical role in managing the SAP Basis function, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of the network. This position involves both business-as-usual (BAU) support and project delivery, including system upgrades, while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and contributing to business development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Support engagements:

  • Regular interaction and effective collaboration with onshore customer calls and service review meetings.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of the network as per agreed service terms and conditions.
  • Manage the SAP Basis function including health checks, batch jobs, incidents, service requests, patching, upgrades, and role creation for multiple accounts.
  • Analyze incidents and manage problem resolution within SLA.
  • Propose and participate in initiatives for overall performance improvement based on vendor and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with technology vendors and service partners responsible for service desk and desktop support.
  • Liaise with business users to understand requirements and deliver solutions through self-development or coordination with technical teams.
  • Deliver impact assessments and solutions for change requests raised by business users.
  • Manage, coordinate, and report application major incidents (P1 & P2).
  • Build end-to-end documentation and catalog for supported applications and known errors.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to the team.
  • Engage proactively with business to build trust and enhance stakeholder management.
  • Support business development activities, including impact assessments, proof of concepts (PoC), effort estimation, project planning, and approach definition.

• Project engagements:

  • Deliver customer projects related to system upgrades in SAP CRM, ECC, SAP BTP, etc.

Qualifications

• Experience:

  • 8 - 10 years of overall experience in SAP Basis and Security.
  • Proficient in SAP tools such as maintenance planner, dependency analyzer, Solution Manager (SOLMAN), ATC checks, etc.
  • Experience with both ECC and S/4 HANA, including installations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with SAP databases like Oracle and Microsoft.
  • Expertise in UNIX and Windows-based operating systems.
  • Experience managing a team of 5 – 10.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and developing solutions.
  • Experience in running upgrade projects in SAP ECC and CRM.

• Education Level / Qualifications:

  • Degree level education (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent).
  • SAP certification in ECC or S/4 HANA.
  • ITIL certification.

Preferred Skills

• Implementation and application support project experience.
• Real-life project experience with SAP ECC and CRM Ehp upgrades.
• Basis experience managing the SAP BTP platform.
• Experience with SAP CVI conversion projects to transition to S/4 HANA.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in SAP Basis and Security.

Environment

• The role is based in Bangalore or Hyderabad and is a permanent position. The consultant is expected to work in a dynamic environment, balancing BAU support with project delivery.
