Job Summary

The MS Fabric Solution Engineer will lead the technical design and implementation of Microsoft Fabric Proofs of Concept (PoCs). This role is pivotal in transforming business requirements into effective data solutions, utilizing Medallion Architecture principles within the Lakehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of Microsoft Fabric PoCs, translating business needs into data solutions.
  • Develop and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines for various data sources, including:
    • Static data (e.g., CIM XML, equipment models, Velocity Suite data).
    • Streaming data (e.g., measurements from grid devices, Event Hub, and IoT Hub).
  • Integrate Fabric seamlessly with internal systems (e.g., CRM, ERP) using RESTful APIs, data mirroring, Azure Integration Services, and Change Data Capture (CDC) mechanisms.
  • Configure and manage core Fabric components hands-on: OneLake, Lakehouse, Notebooks (using PySpark/KQL), and Real-Time Analytics databases.
  • Facilitate data access through GraphQL interfaces, Power BI Embedded, and Direct Lake connections, ensuring optimal performance for self-service Business Intelligence (BI) while adhering to Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Microsoft experts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and stakeholders.
  • Document the architecture and PoC results, providing recommendations for production readiness and data governance (including Purview integration).

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–10 years in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence (BI), or Cloud Analytics, including at least 1–2 projects using Microsoft Fabric (or a strong background in Power BI and Synapse transitioning to Fabric).
  • Technical Skills:
    • OneLake, Data Factory, Lakehouse, Real-Time Intelligence, Dataflow Gen2.
    • Data ingestion skills using CIM XML, CSV, APIs, and SDKs.
    • Proficient with Power BI Embedded and GraphQL interfaces.
    • Experience with Azure Notebooks, PySpark, and Fabric SDK.
  • Data Modeling: Practical experience with data modeling, including asset registries, nomenclature alignment, and schema mapping.
  • Streaming & Governance: Familiarity with real-time streaming (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, IoT Hub) and data governance concepts.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Project Experience: Proven experience in PoC/Prototype-style projects with tight timelines.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of grid operations and energy asset management systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft-Azure joint engagements.
  • Understanding of AI/ML workflow integration via Azure AI Foundry or similar platforms.
  • Relevant certifications such as DP-600/700 or DP-203.
