Job Summary

The Mainframe z/OS System Programmer plays a critical role in ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and functioning of MVS software systems. This position is vital for the implementation and recovery of system processes, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of the organization's mainframe systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install MVS software into SOS repository.
  • Expert in Software Packaging and utilizing SMPE (System Modification Program/Extended).
  • Execute MOM tickets in preparation for Maintenance IPLs (Initial Program Load).
  • Implement software zaps to enhance third-party (3P) software.
  • Manage MVS Product Administration Requests and provide support during system recovery in disaster recovery drills.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support and manage Incident, Problem, Change, and Software Asset Management (ITIL).
  • Create I/O Configuration requests and complete z/OS builds for Refresh projects.
  • Conduct migration projects, LPAR (Logical Partition) builds and decommissions, and CPU swap projects.
  • Maintain asset records and processing of SMF (System Management Facilities) data.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in z/OS systems programming and administration.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with MVS software and systems.
  • Experience with disaster recovery processes and system migrations.
  • Strong problem resolution skills as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in z/OS.
  • Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ISV product replacement.
  • Proficiency in REXX, Assembler, and ISPF dialogs writing.
  • Familiarity with OMVS (Open MVS), Webserver, HTTP, USS (Unix System Services) server activities.
  • Knowledge of Client and Internal Audits and remediation processes for findings or vulnerabilities.
