Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the quality, compliance, and continuous improvement of supplier-manufactured components. This role is pivotal in conducting supplier audits, driving Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and assessing process capabilities. The SQE collaborates closely with internal teams and external suppliers to elevate quality standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and facilitate process improvements that align with organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct supplier validation audits and manage supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing) teams to define process parameters and criteria, ensuring supplier process capability meets product requirements.
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing capabilities and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks.
- Collect and analyze supplier quality data to identify areas for process improvement.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Support the Quality Manager in monitoring supplier product quality and performance.
- Facilitate supplier root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Ensure suppliers comply with industry standards, including TS16949, ISO14001, and ISO45001/OHSAS18001.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of quality and business systems in manufacturing companies.
- Expertise in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, 5-Why analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Pareto Analysis.
- Experience in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with ISO and TS quality management systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques, metrology, and inspection methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Educational requirement: B-Tech or Diploma in a relevant field.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality methodologies.
- Experience in supplier quality management for over 7 years.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards for OEM components, especially for export customers in the USA, Europe, and India.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with supplier quality audits, APQP, and process improvement projects.
Environment
- Location: Bangalore.
- Work Setting: In-office, full-time position.
- Typical manufacturing and office environment; may involve occasional travel to supplier sites for audits and assessments.
Salary
- Estimated salary range: ₹12,00,000 – ₹13,00,000 per annum.
