Job Summary

This role involves utilizing a combination of programming skills and musical expertise to develop tools and solutions in the field of computational musicology and audio technology. The position is designed to contribute to innovative audio solutions and research in music technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement algorithms for audio spatialization and perceptual audio importance ranking.
• Collaborate with teams to enhance audio tools and technologies used in music production.
• Maintain and expand the VIS-framework for research in computational musicology.
• Conduct research and present findings at conferences related to music encoding and analysis.
• Participate in the design and development of machine learning applications in music research.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C#, C++, Java, and ChucK/Chunity.
• Experience with frameworks and libraries such as music21, Tensorflow, Keras, Verovio, pandas, scipy, and matplotlib.
• Familiarity with web technologies including JavaScript, PostgreSQL, XML, HTML, and CSS.
• Knowledge of software tools like Unity, Logic Pro, Photoshop, MuseScore, Finale, and Audacity.
• Strong musical background with proficiency in Violin/Viola, Voice, and Piano.
• Excellent communication skills in English, German, and French.
• Educational qualifications include a Master's in Music, Science, and Technology from Stanford University and a Bachelor's in Music Theory from McGill University.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in audio engineering and sound design.
• Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in music.
• Understanding of orchestral and choral composition techniques.

Experience

• Previous internships in software engineering roles, particularly in audio technology and music-related research.
