Assistant Manager - Project Planning
Job Summary
The Assistant Manager - Project Planning plays a crucial role in supporting the project team throughout the construction planning process, from project inception to handover. This position is responsible for coordinating with various departments to prevent project delays and recommending corrective measures to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
Responsibilities
- Understand the scope of the project and construct a network of work appropriate for the specific project.
- Create a logical sequence from the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and establish the critical path for the project.
- Develop a Master Project schedule, identifying the optimal sequence of events to ensure timely and budget-friendly project completion.
- Prepare the construction schedule, highlighting anticipated delays or deviations in advance.
- Analyze gaps between planned versus actual progress and identify areas needing attention for the project team.
- Prepare method statements and submit them to clients/consultants for approval.
- Assist in developing methodologies for project execution and incorporate client-initiated changes.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and Project Management Consultants (PMC) to ensure work is completed on-site.
- Forecast and track critical contracts and procurement plans.
- Monitor project progress at various stages and ensure alignment with the anticipated schedule.
- Provide advice to stakeholders on observed delays or deviations.
- Ensure all project elements work together towards a common goal while complying with company guidelines and safety parameters.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, costs, and productivity.
Qualifications
- Education: B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 7-12 years of planning experience in large construction projects, preferably in residential multistoried apartment complexes or townships.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with modern construction technologies.
- Proficient in MS Projects and/or Primavera.
- Soft Skills: Strong coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
