Job Summary
As the Senior Manager of Finance and Accounts, you will oversee the day-to-day finance and accounts functions, ensuring compliance and governance while partnering closely with the CFO, CEO, and founder for future fundraising initiatives. You will manage a small in-house team and be responsible for comprehensive financial oversight.
Responsibilities
- Own accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, monthly book closure, and multi-entity consolidation, ensuring clean elimination of intercompany balances at every close.
- Manage revenue recognition policies and execution across various revenue streams including in-app, D2C, retail, and B2B, ensuring all documentation is audit-defensible.
- Oversee all banking operations including account management, transfers, treasury planning, working capital, and salary disbursement, coordinating approvals for significant payments.
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and all statutory requirements, guaranteeing zero tolerance for missed filings through monthly returns, audits, and ROC/MCA filings.
- Design and maintain robust internal financial controls across approvals, payments, expenses, and revenue cycles.
- Prepare monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements with variance analysis, develop rolling forecasts, and construct annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
- Produce monthly and quarterly reports for investors, lead data room preparation, and conduct financial due diligence for future fundraising rounds.
- Review and manage vendor, customer, and partner agreements while maintaining an agreement register.
- Build and lead the in-house finance team, serving as the primary resource for all finance and accounts inquiries within the company.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is preferred.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and internal financial controls, ideally in a growth-stage company, mid-market business, or startup.
- Hands-on experience in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL), multi-entity consolidation, treasury, payroll, and statutory compliance.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and Income Tax with practical experience in filing returns, handling notices, and managing assessments.
- Expertise in preparing P&L statements, cash flow projections, and rolling forecasts independently.
- Proven track record in designing and operating internal financial controls in a business environment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts, particularly in settings that require a strong grasp of financial governance and compliance.
