Job Summary

The Solace Engineer will be responsible for engineering, configuring, and administering Solace messaging infrastructure. The role demands a collaborative individual willing to work within the Middleware Engineering team, as well as a commitment to learning and supporting other messaging technologies. This position plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining effective messaging solutions that align with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering, configuration, and administration activities for Solace messaging systems.
• Work as part of the Middleware Engineering team and support IBM MQ and IBM ACE.
• Architect and deploy messaging infrastructure using Solace PubSub+ / Advanced Event Mesh across cloud environments.
• Define and implement event-driven strategies leveraging Solace features like event mesh, topic hierarchies, and dynamic routing.
• Configure Solace components (brokers, VPNs, queues, topics, client connections) for optimal performance and security.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate Solace with microservices, APIs, and external platforms (Kafka, JMS, MQTT).
• Troubleshoot complex messaging issues including latency, throughput, and durability.
• Automate setup and monitoring processes using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Advise on best practices for event modeling, governance, and topic taxonomy.
• Support enablement activities such as training and knowledge transfer for internal engineering and DevOps teams.
• Provide level 3 support including incident resolution and root cause analysis.
• Conduct research on product capabilities and perform proofs of concept for new products/features.

Qualifications

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Total Years of Experience: 5 years+.
• Years of Experience in Solace: 1 - 2 years.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Solace Messaging.
  • Experience in Cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Strong scripting capabilities using Korn Shell Scripts, Perl, etc.
  • Knowledge of platform RedHat Linux.

Preferred Skills

• Nice to have:
  • Experience with TIBCO, IBM MQ, and IBM ACE.
  • Familiarity with EKS/Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • AWS certifications on DevOps / SysOps / Architect track.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years specifically focused on Solace Messaging.
