Job Summary

The Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services that support our automation platform. This role involves working on scalable microservices, optimizing database interactions, and integrating with various APIs, including digital advertising and DSPs. The engineer will collaborate across teams to ensure system reliability, security, and performance in a cloud-based environment, primarily leveraging AWS. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge backend technologies, contribute to system architecture evolution, and participate in on-call production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Django.
• Optimize database interactions with PostgreSQL or MySQL to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical initiatives, and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Support the evolution of a monolithic architecture into scalable microservices.
• Explore and contribute to systems built using Go or Rust for future scalability.
• Integrate backend systems with digital advertising and DSP APIs.
• Collaborate effectively with frontend, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless solutions.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain production systems hosted on AWS.
• Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot, and debug production issues.
• Build secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend systems aligned with best practices.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of experience building backend systems and production-grade applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django.
• Experience with FastAPI or Flask is an advantage.
• Good understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Exposure to AWS production environments.
• Experience with an additional programming language; Go or Rust is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Knowledge of API design and integration best practices.
• Understanding of security principles in cloud environments.
