Job Summary

The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the Specified Investment Fund (SIF) will play a pivotal role in defining and leading the investment strategy. This strategic leadership position requires an individual with extensive experience in managing passive or arbitrage strategies, who can deliver exceptional investment performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Investment Strategy & Portfolio Oversight: Define and lead the overall investment strategy for the Specified Investment Fund. Oversee the design, implementation, and execution of passive or arbitrage investment strategies, ensuring effective portfolio rebalancing, index replication, and timely opportunity identification.
• Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to SEBI regulations and internal risk and compliance frameworks. Establish robust risk monitoring systems, including stress testing and scenario analysis.
• Market Analysis & Innovation: Monitor macroeconomic indicators and market developments relevant to the fund’s strategy. Identify areas for continuous improvement in strategy, automation, and execution using advanced data analytics and technology.
• Leadership & Reporting: Present investment strategy and performance to the Investment Committee. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, operations, compliance, and technology. Lead, mentor, and develop the investment team in alignment with SAMCO’s performance-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in fund management, managing an average Assets Under Management (AUM) of ₹5,000 crores or more.
• Technical Skills: Extensive experience in passive fund management and/or arbitrage strategies. Strong knowledge of SEBI regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk controls.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing investment teams and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Strategic Mindset: Strong execution discipline in systematic or index-based investing.
• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related fields is required. An MBA in Finance or professional certifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) are preferred.
