Role Overview

The Head of Engineering will own the end-to-end delivery, reliability, and scalability

of Marg Books.

This role is meant for a hands-on technology leader who can lead by example —

coding when needed, resolving technical bottlenecks, ensuring fast bug resolution, and

maintaining high product stability as usage scales.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in .NET Core, Angular, SQL, Azure, and CI/CD

(Jenkins), and thrives in balancing speed, quality, and stability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Delivery Excellence

• Ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of all product releases.

• Drive structured sprint planning, code reviews, and release discipline.

• Monitor and improve release velocity, QA pass rates, and production uptime.

2. Hands-on Technical Leadership

• Serve as the technical anchor for the team — capable of reviewing code,

resolving complex issues, and mentoring developers.

• Troubleshoot critical production issues, performance bottlenecks, and

scalability challenges directly.• Stay deeply involved in architecture decisions, enforcing best practices in

design and coding standards.

3. Platform Stability & Performance

• Build and maintain a stable, secure, and scalable system as user base and

transaction volume grow.

• Drive a proactive approach to bug tracking, resolution, and regression testing.

• Ensure mean time to resolution (MTTR) for bugs and issues is continuously

reduced.

4. Retention & Reliability Focus

• Own the engineering metrics that drive customer satisfaction and retention

(>80%).

• Partner with Product and Support teams to address recurring issues, improve

response time, and eliminate root causes.

• Establish strong monitoring, alerting, and rollback mechanisms to maintain

uptime and prevent disruptions.

5. Team Leadership & Culture

• Lead a 30–50 member engineering team across backend, frontend, QA, and

DevOps.

• Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Coach engineers and tech leads on architectural thinking and problem-solving.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• Proven, hands-on experience (10–15 years total; 5+ years in leadership) working

with:

o .NET Core / C# – Backend APIs, performance tuning, and architecture.

o Angular – SPA design, modular UI, and client-side optimization.

o SQL Server – Database design, optimization, query performance.

o Azure Cloud – App Services, Functions, Storage, Security, Monitoring.

o CI/CD with Jenkins – Automated builds, testing, and deployment

pipelines.• Strong understanding of scalable SaaS architecture, caching strategies, and

API integrations.

• Experience building multi-tenant enterprise applications preferred.

Leadership & Delivery

• Proven ability to lead engineering teams in shipping reliable software on time.

• Data-driven approach to tracking performance, delivery timelines, and issue

resolution.

• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and system troubleshooting skills.

Soft Skills

• Hands-on mindset – ready to jump into the codebase when needed.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Ownership mentality with high bias for action and results.
