Role Overview
As the Head of Design, you will lead and oversee the design team in the development of innovative and user-centric products. You will be responsible for the entire product design process, from concept to market launch, ensuring that our products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, user-friendly, and aligned with the company's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management: Lead, inspire, and manage a team of footwear designers, pattern makers, and other design professionals. Cultivate a collaborative and innovative work environment to encourage creative problem-solving and product development.
Design Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear design vision and strategy that aligns with the company's mission and goals. Establish design standards, guidelines, and best practices to maintain product consistency and quality.
Product Conceptualization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, material experts, and engineers, to identify market opportunities and define product concepts. Conduct market research, trend analysis, and competitor assessments to inform design decisions.
Design Development: Lead the entire design process from concept through prototyping to final production, ensuring a seamless user experience and product functionality. Oversee the creation of design sketches, 2D/3D patterns, and prototypes to visualize and validate design concepts.
User-Centric Design: Ensure the design team follows user-centred design principles, placing user comfort and functionality at the forefront. Facilitate user feedback collection and usability testing to enhance and refine designs.
Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that final footwear products meet design specifications, performance standards, and quality benchmarks. Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to address design-related issues.
Innovation and Technology: Stay updated on emerging design trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies relevant to the footwear industry. Encourage innovative thinking and experimentation within the design team to improve products.
Resource Management: Manage the design department's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective design processes.
Communication: Effectively communicate design strategies, progress, and results to executive leadership and other stakeholders. Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create product messaging and materials for product launches.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, or a related field. |

Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a passion for driving a culture of quality and innovation.
