Job Summary
The Equity Research Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Fund Managers by conducting comprehensive fundamental research, financial modeling, and valuation of companies within assigned sectors. The analyst is responsible for analyzing operational, financial, and management parameters to generate actionable investment ideas that enhance fund performance. Additionally, the role involves tracking macroeconomic and sector-specific trends, engaging with industry stakeholders, and providing data-driven insights to inform investment strategies and portfolio decisions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fundamental research on assigned sectors (e.g., Infrastructure, Capital Goods, Telecom, Energy, Materials) by analyzing business models, management quality, industry positioning, and growth drivers.
- Develop and maintain financial models to project company performance, evaluate intrinsic value, and support valuation processes using techniques such as DCF and relative valuation.
- Prepare investment research reports, sector outlook notes, and company-specific recommendations for Fund Managers, updating views based on new developments, earnings, or macroeconomic changes.
- Track macroeconomic indicators, policy developments, regulatory changes, technological shifts, and industry trends that impact sector or company valuations.
- Engage with company management, investor relations teams, sell-side analysts, and industry experts through calls, meetings, and conferences for primary research and validation.
- Collaborate with senior analysts, fund managers, and portfolio analysts to support investment decision-making, contribute insights to team discussions, and assist in the preparation of investment decks and internal reports.
- Maintain sectoral and company databases, including earnings trackers, valuation comparisons, and model updates, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
- Ensure compliance with internal research protocols and SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) norms, and coordinate with legal, risk, and compliance teams.
Qualifications

Educational Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields (MBA, CA, CFA, or equivalent) from a reputed institution.

Experience: 3–7 years of hands-on experience in equity research, preferably within asset management, sell-side firms, or investment advisory.

Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of equity markets, business models, and financial statement analysis.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, earnings forecasting, and valuation techniques (DCF, relative valuation).
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing mutual funds and investment research.
- Experience with market databases and research tools such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Capital Line, ACE Equity.
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of financial and qualitative data into actionable insights.
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
