Job Summary
The Packaging & Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire packaging development process, from conceptualization to commercial production. This role is crucial in ensuring that packaging solutions are functional, aesthetically appealing, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory and sustainability standards. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality packaging for new product launches and existing portfolio enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end packaging development process for new product launches and existing product improvements.
- Develop primary and secondary packaging components, including tubes, bottles, jars, pumps, closures, monocartons, labels, and other formats.
- Translate product and brand requirements into functional, aesthetic, and commercially viable packaging solutions.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with packaging vendors and suppliers.
- Drive sampling, mock-up creation, testing, artwork development, and final approval processes.
- Collaborate closely with Product Development, Brand, Procurement, Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to ensure timely product launches.
- Manage packaging project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure on-time delivery.
- Drive cost optimization through material selection, design improvements, vendor negotiations, and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Troubleshoot packaging issues during trials and commercial production, implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure packaging compliance with quality, regulatory, labeling, and sustainability requirements.
- Stay informed about emerging packaging materials, formats, technologies, and industry trends.
Qualifications
- 5 – 8 years of experience in packaging development, preferably within Beauty, Personal Care, Cosmetics, or FMCG sectors.
- Strong hands-on understanding of tubes, monocartons, and primary/secondary packaging formats.
- Experience working with packaging manufacturers, converters, and vendors.
- Good knowledge of printing processes, materials, molds/tooling, decoration, and packaging production processes.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial acumen with experience in costing and cost optimization.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a keen eye for premium aesthetics and consumer experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple product launches simultaneously.
- Educational qualifications: Relevant degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or related fields.

- Experience with sustainable packaging solutions and eco-friendly materials.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards related to packaging and labeling.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling or CAD software.
