Job Summary
The Process Manager - Asset Management within Bayer’s Global Business Services (GBS) Finance team is responsible for identifying and leveraging best practices to deliver positive operational and non-operational outcomes. This role ensures that financial processes are standardized, harmonized, efficient, and audit-secure, while supporting and training people to deliver on these processes. The Process Manager ensures reliable financial statement figures in compliance with Bayer policies, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and country-specific legislation and tax requirements, enabling certification by external auditors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate financial process topics functionally, acting as a senior expert and supporting team members in their work delivery and development.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the global expert community focused on process excellence in asset management.
- Implement reporting requirements from Accounting, Taxes, Controlling, Treasury, and Auditors to calibrate cost, quality, compliance, and timing across GBS locations.
- Partner with the Center of Expertise (CoE) and Global Process Governance (GPG) to ensure adherence to globally defined standards and activity splits, and liaise with the GBS network on Record to Report (R2R) issues.
- Manage stakeholder relationships through a structured engagement framework to drive satisfaction and maintain a unified GBS interface.
- Ensure operational effectiveness of internal control systems related to financial statement preparation, working closely with Global Finance Network, Outsourcing Providers, Legal Entities, and Auditors.
- Contribute to local and global projects including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and system integrations.
- Identify business opportunities to add value through consultancy, solution proposals, and complexity reduction; coordinate optimization projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proactively manage potential issues and changes, including escalation management.
- Define, monitor, and steer performance excellence using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics, or a relevant field.
- Professional qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or Tax; Project and Digital certifications are highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of End-to-End financial processes.
- Advanced understanding of accounting and financial reporting standards, including IFRS and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience in conducting and preparing trainings and workshops.
- Strong self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent analytical thinking and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Service-driven and customer-focused with the ability to build trustful relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- Capability to develop alternative solutions and independently handle complex problems.
- Experience organizing international process trainings, workshops, and conferences.
Preferred Skills
- Experience driving change and involvement in projects as an expert or lead.
- At least 3 years of prior experience leading technical projects involving processes, organization, and people.
- Advanced capabilities in leading change, projects, and initiatives.
- Strong ability to explain rationale ("the why"), influence stakeholders, and execute governance in Accounting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across geographical, organizational, and functional boundaries.
- Proficiency in enterprise-wide business systems such as SAP and other Finance, Accounting & Tax (FA&T) enablers.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including macros, pivot tables, and data visualization.
- Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of Power Automate for building simple automation solutions or identifying implementation opportunities.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Controlling, or related fields.
- Demonstrated understanding of external reporting and auditing processes.
- Experience in leading and managing projects and change initiatives within a global context.
