Job Summary
The Head of Administration and Compliance is responsible for ensuring that the school operates in full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, focusing on the safety and welfare of girl students in a residential setting. This position involves monitoring school operations, managing regulatory reporting, overseeing operational departments, and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure adherence to government regulations including the Right to Education (RTE) Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and other applicable education board rules.
- Child Safety & Protection: Oversee the implementation of the Child Protection Policy, ensuring all staff receive training on POCSO and child safety protocols.
- Internal Reviews & Compliance Assessments: Conduct regular internal reviews of school operations to identify compliance issues and correct them.
- Risk Management: Identify operational and safety risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
- Crisis Management: Lead emergency preparedness and response protocols for incidents affecting health, safety, or reputation; coordinate crisis drills and incident handling.
- Administrative Work: Support compliance-related documentation, licensing, facility management, and record-keeping to ensure smooth operations.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise and coordinate with departments handling finance, procurement, inventory, student medical care, and other operational functions.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison with government departments, school management, NGOs, and the local community regarding compliance-related concerns.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in school administration, compliance, or NGO settings, preferably in child welfare or education.
- Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal frameworks affecting residential schools and child rights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Sensitivity: Ability to work with diverse and vulnerable student populations, ensuring their needs are met.
- Leadership: Experience in training and capacity building regarding legal compliance, ethics, child rights, and gender sensitivity.
Preferred Skills
- Additional qualifications or experience in child welfare policies or educational regulations.
- Familiarity with compliance and risk management frameworks.
