Job Summary
The Strategic Market Research & Expansion Analyst will lead in-depth research and analysis of the pet care services market, with a primary emphasis on the Bangalore region. This role involves mapping market opportunities, analyzing consumer behavior, benchmarking competitors, and translating insights into actionable business expansion strategies and high-impact investor pitch materials. The analyst will play a critical part in shaping Poochkoo’s growth trajectory by providing data-driven recommendations for new market entry and investment acquisition.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on the pet care services market, including size, growth trends, and future outlook at both the India and global levels.
- Break down the market by service verticals such as boarding, grooming, training, transport, and veterinary care.
- Map demand and supply across Bangalore neighborhoods, identifying underserved high-potential zones using metrics like pet density, income levels, and real estate feasibility.
- Analyze competitors within the region, including Heads Up For Tails, Tail Lovers Co., Wiggles, and others.
- Design and execute primary consumer research (surveys or field interviews) to profile customer personas, understand pain points, spending patterns, and usage frequency.
- Develop a SWOT analysis for Poochkoo and define its unique selling proposition (USP) in the market.
- Prepare detailed financial models, including 1-year and 3-year revenue projections, sensitivity analyses, and unit economics for different expansion models.
- Draft a clear, compelling investor pitch deck highlighting business vision, traction, total addressable market (TAM), go-to-market (GTM) strategy, financials, team, and funding requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Economics, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills; ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to design surveys and conduct field interviews.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver actionable insights.
- Interest in or knowledge of the pet care industry is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Prior internship or project experience in market research, consulting, or business strategy.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with financial modeling and sensitivity analysis.
- Understanding of the Bangalore market landscape.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and persona development.
- Exposure to startup or investor pitch development.
Experience
- Minimum Experience: 0 years (open to fresh graduates or current students).
- Relevant experience in market research, business analysis, consulting projects, or internships is advantageous.

Salary
300,000 – 500,000 INR (internship stipend, based on qualifications and experience).
