Job Summary
The Small-Cap Equity Research Analyst will be responsible for generating actionable investment ideas within the small-cap universe. This role is pivotal in conducting detailed market analysis and financial modeling, ultimately contributing to the firm's investment strategy and goals.
Responsibilities
- Identify Stock Opportunities: Screen the small-cap space to generate long-term actionable investment ideas.
- Present Investment Ideas: Pitch high-conviction buy/sell ideas to the investment team with the goal of generating alpha.
- Financial Modelling & Valuation: Build and maintain financial models, track quarterly earnings releases, attend quarterly conference calls, and stay updated with the latest developments for companies tracked.
- Increase Coverage Universe: Take responsibility for bringing new companies under coverage to widen the investment universe.
- Industry/Sector Analysis: Analyze key sectoral developments, identify emerging sector trends, and assess competitive landscapes.
- Detailed Analysis: Conduct channel checks, site visits, and plant visits to develop a comprehensive understanding of sectors and companies.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: MBA, CA (Chartered Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) with a strong academic record.
- Experience: 3-4 years of relevant analyst experience in the mid-small cap space.
- Research Skills: Detail-oriented with strong bottom-up fundamental research capabilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounting principles and valuation techniques.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively pitch ideas and collaborate with team members.
