Job Summary

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will provide essential database support for EDB, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Aurora PostgreSQL, and Open-Source PostgreSQL databases. Your primary objective is to ensure the integrity and availability of the databases, while engaging in monitoring, analysis, administration, and performance tuning at both the database and application levels. You will collaborate with application and business teams to optimize databases and application code, enhancing availability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze database performance and health for EDB, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, and Open-Source PostgreSQL databases.
• Administer, tune, and optimize databases and application code to improve availability and performance.
• Design and implement high availability and scalable database platforms in on-premises and AWS environments.
• Automate routine database activities to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload.
• Utilize security, backup, recovery, and archiving knowledge to improve processes for logical and physical data structures.
• Document the database environment and support processes, while forecasting long-range requirements for database administration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6+ years experience in administering on-prem/cloud PostgreSQL databases (AWS Aurora/RDS/EDB/Open-Source PostgreSQL).
• Expertise in planning, designing, building, and implementing complex database systems.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL Database architecture.
• Experience with AWS cloud-based PostgreSQL database administration.
• Proficient in implementing and maintaining High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations, including Streaming/Multi-master Replication, EFM, BDR, Logical replication, RDS Global Database, etc.
• Strong skills in Database and Query Performance Monitoring and Tuning, as well as capacity planning for PostgreSQL databases, using native and third-party tools.
• Automation skills in Shell Scripts, Python, Ansible, and Terraform to streamline routine maintenance activities.
• Proven experience in implementing industry best practices for consistent installation and configuration across various environments (production, pre-production, non-production).

Preferred Skills

• Certified EDB PostgreSQL DBA is preferred.
• AWS Solution Architect Certification is preferred.

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in database administration, specifically managing PostgreSQL databases.
