Job Summary
The Electrical Engineering Innovation Lead is responsible for spearheading research and development in Electrical Power Systems Engineering, particularly focusing on software-defined power and managing stranded power within a Direct Current (DC) environment. This role will collaborate with core teams on design and engineering projects, aiming to incorporate cutting-edge technologies to optimize costs and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of comprehensive research in Electrical Power Systems Engineering, particularly focusing on software-defined power management in DC systems.
- Collaborate with Design and Engineering (D&E) core teams to develop, implement, and manage DC electrical designs for new projects, infrastructure upgrades, and rectifications, incorporating the latest technologies to achieve cost savings.
- Participate in the insertion of new technologies by working closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of Basis of Design (BOD).
- Conduct quarterly reviews of technologies and commercial aspects relevant to key projects.
- Engage in modeling, simulation, and data management tasks; utilize simulation and modeling software such as MATLAB and COMSOL.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized university; a major in Power Engineering is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of medium, low, and high voltage electrical distribution systems, including AC/DC systems and associated power management/SCADA tools.
- Prior knowledge of power system condition monitoring techniques and tools.
