Job Summary

The Payroll and Compliance position is responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring statutory compliance with labor laws, and providing employee support related to payroll matters. This role significantly contributes to the organization's operational efficiency and legal adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Management:

    • Process monthly payroll accurately and within defined timelines.
    • Validate attendance, leave records, incentives, reimbursements, bonuses, and full & final settlements.
    • Coordinate with finance and HR teams for payroll inputs and approvals.
    • Ensure salary revisions, promotions, and employee lifecycle changes are updated in payroll systems.
    • Generate payslips, payroll reports, bank transfer statements, and Management Information System (MIS) reports.
    • Handle payroll audits and maintain payroll documentation.
  • Statutory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with Provident Fund (PF), Employees' State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax (PT), Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), Labor Welfare Fund (LWF), Gratuity, Bonus, and other applicable labor laws.
    • Prepare and file monthly/quarterly/annual statutory returns within deadlines.
    • Coordinate with consultants and government authorities for compliance-related matters.
    • Maintain compliance records and statutory registers.
    • Support labor inspections and internal audits.
  • Employee Support:

    • Resolve employee queries related to salary, taxation, deductions, and compliance.
    • Assist employees with tax declarations, proofs, and Form 16 related queries.
    • Support onboarding and exit formalities from payroll and compliance perspective.
  • Process Improvement & Reporting:

    • Maintain payroll accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Prepare HR dashboards and payroll analytics reports.
    • Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and Indian labor laws.
    • Hands-on experience with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and payroll compliance.
    • Good understanding of income tax calculations and payroll structures.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRMS/payroll tools.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
    • 2–6 years of experience in payroll and statutory compliance.
    • Experience handling payroll for small to mid-sized organizations is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with HRMS/Payroll Software, specifically Zoho Payroll.
  • Proficiency in advanced MS Excel features (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas).

Experience

  • 2–6 years of experience in payroll and statutory compliance.
