Job Summary
The Mainframes Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of technical professionals in the analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of complex application enhancements. This role is critical in delivering systematic solutions that align with customer requirements while ensuring compliance with Highmark IT standards and policies. The Mainframes Lead will also provide general production support, ensuring applications meet service levels, availability, performance, and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, code, test, and implement complex application enhancements while minimizing defects, adhering to defined scope, target dates, and budgets.
- Participate in the full system development life cycle according to Highmark's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards.
- Collaborate with customers, business analysts, and IT teams to translate business requirements into quality technical solutions.
- Provide necessary technical support, including release implementations and on-call support, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all Highmark IT standards, policies, and procedures during project execution.
- Assume various roles in project teams, such as Developer, Technical Lead, or Project Manager based on experience.
- Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and management, conducting technical walkthroughs, reporting project status, and producing clear documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or 6 years of related experience in lieu.
- Experience: 5 years of experience managing a mainframe technical team.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in COBOL, JCL, Endevor/IDZee, ESP/Control M, and Harvest/Gitlab with IMS DB and DB2 databases as back-end.
- Project Management: Experience with project management tools.
- People Management: Skills in people management and stakeholder management.
- Quality Assurance: Familiar with quality assurance processes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in delivery management for US Healthcare Payer customers.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
Experience
- 7 to 10 years of total relevant experience, including at least 5 years managing a technical team.
Environment
The role typically operates in an office setting located in Chennai. Additional on-call and 24/7 support may be required.
