Job Summary

The Associate — AI Investments will join Avataar’s investment team to support the evaluation and execution of growth-stage investments in AI and technology sectors. This role offers an opportunity to develop deep expertise in AI while leveraging a strong foundation in technology, SaaS, or growth investing. The candidate will be instrumental in sourcing, analyzing, and executing investments that align with the firm’s strategic focus on AI-led innovation.

Responsibilities

• Research & Sourcing: Track AI and technology markets, identify emerging companies, founders, and business models; build market maps and identify new investment opportunities.
• Investment Evaluation: Analyze potential investments across market opportunity, business model, product, technology, competitive landscape, and operational performance.
• Financial Analysis: Develop financial models, valuation scenarios, and return analyses; benchmark companies against relevant industry comparables.
• Due Diligence: Support commercial, financial, and market due diligence processes; synthesize findings into clear investment implications.
• Investment Materials: Prepare investment memos, market research reports, and presentation materials for the Investment Committee.
• Portfolio & Team Support: Monitor portfolio companies and market developments; contribute to the development of investment theses and internal knowledge base.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4–8 years of professional experience in growth equity, venture capital, private equity, technology investment banking, or high-growth operating roles.
• Educational background: B.Tech/engineering degree from a leading institution; Tier-1 MBA/PGDM preferred.
• Strong exposure to AI, enterprise SaaS, B2B technology, software, or other technology-led sectors.
• Experience evaluating growth-stage investments is advantageous.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to analyze and break down complex businesses, markets, and technologies.
• Deep understanding of technology and SaaS business models.
• Excellent research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
• Ability to form independent views rather than solely synthesizing external research.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial investment environment.
