Job Summary

The Quant Engineer will leverage strong programming skills, particularly in Python, to develop and productionize quantitative models into software applications. The role requires collaboration with traders, quant analysts, and data engineers to create robust and secure systems that support trading operations and enhance financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and productionize quantitative models into software applications, ensuring robust daily operations, monitoring, and back testing.
  • Collaborate with traders or quant analysts to translate their needs into software product requirements.
  • Prototype and implement data pipelines to facilitate the efficient processing and analysis of financial data.
  • Act as a technical support and coach to analysts and quants during the development of models.
  • Ensure the production of accurate, performant, scalable, and secure software while adhering to IT standards and best practices.
  • Participate in an Agile environment, contributing to ceremonies and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure that documentation and results of analysis or modeling are appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor and coach teammates who are developing their skills in Quant Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Graduation/Postgraduation/PhD with 8+ years of work experience as a software developer or data scientist.
  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant field of applied mathematics.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in core Python and the Python scientific stack (including pandas, numpy, scipy, and stats), along with proficiency in a strongly typed language (e.g., C#, C++, Rust, or Java).
  • Mastery of application design, security, release testing, and packaging.
  • Proficient in SQL/NoSQL databases and data pipeline orchestration tools.
  • Experience in concurrent/distributed programming and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of trading terminology and concepts (including financial derivatives) gained from experience in a trading or finance environment.
  • Skills in web development, cloud computing (ideally Azure), containerization (Docker), and DevOps testing & software quality assurance are necessary.

Preferred Skills

  • Data engineering skills such as PySpark, Lakehouses, and Kafka are a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts such as PnL, Greeks, volatility, partial derivative, and normal distribution is advantageous.
  • Financial and/or trading exposure, particularly in energy commodities, is beneficial.

Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in software development or data science, particularly within a trading or finance environment.

Environment

  • This role operates in a hybrid work mode, allowing for both remote and in-office work within India.
