Job Summary

As a Manager of Credit Policy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our credit policies and ensuring a seamless end-to-end process for our financial services. You will work at the intersection of credit risk, product design, market segmentation, and technology, empowering our dedication to data-centric credit underwriting and risk evaluation. Your role is instrumental in shaping our assessment models, lending policies, and optimizing credit risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Credit Policy Design: Develop, refine, and optimize credit policies, rules, and decision-making criteria based on market segmentation and customer profiles.
  • Assessment Templates: Build income assessment templates for focused sectors within the informal economy, requiring detailed field research and study of the segments.
  • Loan Origination System (LOS) Implementation: Oversee the implementation of the LOS, defining underwriting workflow, automating rules, and ensuring policy compliance.
  • Product Collaboration: Work closely with the product team to integrate policy considerations into product design, market segmentation, and credit policy formulation.
  • Credit Model Development: Collaborate with the analytics team to build credit decisioning models and internal credit scorecards that enhance the underwriting process.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Develop a systematic framework for extracting and leveraging diverse data points to drive objective decision-making, implementing this framework via the rule engine.
  • Process Design: Create and design comprehensive end-to-end processes to ensure that credit policies are consistently implemented.
  • Bureau Management: Manage relationships with credit bureaus and ensure the seamless integration of bureau data into the underwriting process, along with managing other third-party relations impacting the credit process.
  • Portfolio Management: Drive the creation of a quality portfolio by applying policies to optimize credit assessment and decision-making while monitoring portfolio behavior and early warning signs closely for timely interventions.
  • Training: Create and deliver training modules to ensure thorough staff understanding of policy frameworks.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of credit policies, decisions, and process documentation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all credit policies adhere to regulatory guidelines and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Business, Mathematics, Economics, etc.).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underwriting, credit analysis, and policy drafting within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial regulations, credit risk, and industry standards, especially related to lending and underwriting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in developing and refining credit scoring frameworks and internal credit scorecards. Strong problem-solving skills to adapt to changing market conditions and optimize credit policies.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced quantitative analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with credit risk management software tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in relevant roles, particularly in underwriting and credit policy management within the financial services sector.
