Job Summary

The Purchase Executive will play a vital role in sourcing high-quality organic and natural raw materials by establishing and nurturing relationships with farmers, farmer groups, aggregators, and other supply partners. This field-intensive role requires extensive travel and direct engagement with agricultural communities to develop a dependable sourcing network that aligns with Praakritik’s standards of authenticity and quality.

Responsibilities

• Farmer & Supplier Relationship Building: Identify, meet, and develop long-term relationships with farmers, farmer groups, FPOs, cooperatives, and ethical suppliers. Regularly visit sourcing locations to understand farmers’ practices, challenges, and needs.
• Vendor Development & Relationship Management: Onboard and develop reliable vendors, assess their performance, quality, and reliability, and develop alternate sources for key commodities to strengthen the supply chain.
• Ground-Level Sourcing: Travel extensively to sourcing regions to identify new sources, understand crop cycles, seasonality, and market conditions, and source organic ingredients that meet Praakritik’s standards.
• Procurement & Commercials: Obtain quotations, negotiate terms, place purchase orders, and ensure timely procurement while maintaining quality and cost efficiency. Manage documentation, delivery schedules, and payments.
• Quality & Ethical Sourcing: Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to ensure raw materials meet standards, support traceability, and flag any quality or authenticity concerns.
• Market Intelligence: Monitor commodity prices, crop conditions, and emerging sourcing regions to provide ground-level insights on supply constraints, price movements, and opportunities.
• B2B & Industry Relationship Building: Represent Praakritik at trade fairs, farmer events, and sourcing platforms to identify potential suppliers and expand the ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, agri-business, FMCG, food, commodities, or related fields.
• Proven experience working directly with farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, or rural supply networks.
• Knowledge of organic, natural, or specialty foods is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills in local languages and willingness to travel extensively.
• Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and networking skills.
• Ability to operate independently, take ownership, and solve problems on the ground.
• Educational qualifications: BSc, BTech, or equivalent in Agriculture, Food Technology, Business, or related fields.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in organic/natural product sourcing.
• Familiarity with agricultural ecosystems and crop cycles.
• Ability to assess quality and authenticity of raw materials.
• Strong market intelligence and cost management skills.
• Proficiency in local languages relevant to sourcing regions.
• Ability to work in villages, farms, mandis, and non-corporate environments.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, or agri-business, especially with direct farmer or rural community engagement.

Environment

This role is primarily field-based, involving extensive travel to farms, mandis, sourcing locations, and industry events across rural and semi-urban regions. The work environment includes farms, villages, markets, and exhibitions, requiring adaptability to non-office settings and physical outdoor conditions.
