Job Overview
As the Data Engineering Leader, you will spearhead the development and execution of our
data strategy, architecture, and systems. You will lead a talented team of data engineers
while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including data science, product,
engineering, and healthcare experts. Your role will involve scaling our data infrastructure,
ensuring data quality, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Mentor: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing data engineering
team, ensuring a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Data Infrastructure: Architect, scale, and maintain the data infrastructure, including
data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing, ensuring optimal
performance and reliability.
Data Strategy: Drive the data strategy for the company, including data governance,
security, and compliance, ensuring data is accessible, accurate, and actionable for
stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Data Science, Product,
Engineering, and Healthcare teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions
that align with business objectives.
HealthTech Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of healthcare data (HIPAA
compliance, interoperability, clinical data, etc.) to solve complex challenges and
ensure our solutions are both scalable and compliant.
Continuous Improvement: Drive the continuous improvement of data engineering
processes, tools, and technologies to ensure scalability, speed, and agility in
handling growing data demands.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with leadership and business
stakeholders to set clear goals, timelines, and expectations around data initiatives.
Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies, bringing
forward innovative solutions that can optimize our data engineering practices.
Key Qualifications:
Experience: 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a
leadership role, ideally within a fast-paced, scaling SaaS or healthcare tech
company.
Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and growing data
engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in data engineering technologies such as
SQL, Python, ETL frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or
Azure), and data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
Healthcare Domain Knowledge: Experience working with healthcare data, including
knowledge of HIPAA compliance, healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR), and
interoperability challenges.
Big Data and Scalability: Hands-on experience in designing and implementing
scalable data pipelines for large datasets, including real-time data processing and
batch processing.
Cloud and Distributed Systems: Experience with cloud-native data engineering
solutions and distributed systems, leveraging cloud storage, databases, and
processing frameworks.
Data Modeling & Warehousing: Expertise in building and optimizing data models and
warehousing solutions that support analytical, operational, and business intelligence
needs.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to
tackle complex, large-scale data challenges in a fast-growing environment.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the
ability to translate technical concepts into clear and actionable business insights.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning pipelines, or AI-driven
healthcare applications.
Knowledge of healthcare-specific databases and clinical data standards.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in fast-paced, iterative
environments.
Experience with data security and compliance frameworks, particularly in the
