Head of Procurement

Job Summary

The Head of Procurement will lead and transform the company's procurement function into a strategic business enabler. The role focuses on delivering cost optimization, supply reliability, governance excellence, and operational efficiency. The incumbent will develop procurement strategies, build a high-performing supplier ecosystem, drive commercial value, and strengthen risk and compliance controls. This role is pivotal in supporting business growth through technology-led procurement practices and collaborating closely with various departments such as Operations, Technical Services, Finance, Business Development, and Client Management to ensure procurement decisions enhance profitability, service quality, scalability, and customer satisfaction across all operations.

Responsibilities

• Procurement Strategy & Governance: Develop and implement enterprise-wide procurement strategies aligned with business objectives. Establish procurement policies, approval frameworks, category strategies, and governance standards to ensure transparency, audit readiness, and commercial robustness. Drive process standardization, spend visibility, and procurement KPIs.
• Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Management: Lead sourcing initiatives, competitive bidding, supplier negotiations, and contractual agreements across all procurement categories. Secure optimal pricing, payment terms, and service levels to achieve year-on-year cost savings, value creation, and working capital improvements. Balance cost, quality, service continuity, and operational needs.
• Supplier Relationship & Risk Management: Develop and manage a diversified network of strategic suppliers and service providers. Implement onboarding, due diligence, evaluation, and performance management frameworks. Mitigate supply chain, compliance, concentration, and business continuity risks through effective vendor governance. Foster long-term partnerships with critical suppliers while maintaining competitive sourcing options.
• Technical & Operational Procurement Excellence: Collaborate with Technical Services and Operations to procure engineering equipment, spares, consumables, tools, and specialized services. Support sourcing of maintenance contracts, technical services, and facility management requirements. Standardize specifications, approved makes, and rate contracts. Ensure procurement supports safety, statutory compliance, equipment reliability, and service excellence. Lead procurement for large, multi-location, high-value service contracts, ensuring competitiveness, operational continuity, statutory compliance, and long-term value.
• Contract Management, Compliance & Controls: Oversee the commercial governance of supplier agreements, purchase contracts, and service agreements. Manage contract lifecycle activities including negotiation, renewal, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution. Establish procurement controls, audit mechanisms, and compliance frameworks aligned with statutory requirements, DPDP 2023 Act provisions, ESG commitments, and internal standards.
• Business Partnership, Digitalization & Team Leadership: Support business development, bid management, and mobilization through procurement planning and benchmarking. Drive adoption of e-procurement platforms, spend analytics, contract management tools, and AI-enabled procurement solutions. Develop dashboards and insights for decision-making. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing procurement team aligned with the company's growth ambitions.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in strategic procurement, sourcing, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong understanding of contract management, compliance, and governance standards.
• Experience in technical procurement, especially in engineering equipment, spares, maintenance contracts, and specialized services.
• Knowledge of industry standards and statutory compliance, including DPDP 2023 Act.
• Proficiency in digital procurement tools, spend analytics, and AI-enabled procurement platforms.
• Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Educational qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred.
