Real World Clinical Coder
Job Summary
The Real World Clinical Coder is responsible for generating and maintaining medical and pharmacy codes for defining conditions, events, and treatments in studies utilizing administrative healthcare data. This role involves critical review of literature, stakeholder engagement, and the development of coding libraries to support real-world database studies.
Responsibilities
- Understand the scope of coding requests and generate medical and pharmacy codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CPT, NDC, SNOMED, LOINC).
- Drive stakeholder engagement by identifying coding needs for upcoming studies and providing expert consultation on code set selection.
- Maintain a coding library platform to house previously generated code sets and support the re-use of standardized code sets.
- Identify automation opportunities in the code list generation process and collaborate with R&D tech and RWA for implementation.
- Conduct effective literature reviews to create, review, and update code lists accurately.
- Document and archive completed code lists in the coding library platform and decommission outdated lists with relevant documentation.
- Lead updates to the Repository Data Internal Platform (RDIP) dictionary with the latest coding standards when external tools are unavailable.
- Learn and deliver code lists for new coding systems used in datasets such as Japanese datasets and SEER registry.
Qualifications
- Proficient in medical coding standards including ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CPT, NDC, SNOMED, and LOINC.
- Knowledge of MedDRA and WHODrug dictionaries is preferable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct literature reviews and coding dictionary searches.
- Experience with coding software and technical tools (e.g., R programs) for code list creation.
- Excellent communication skills for regular updates and risk management.
- Ability to troubleshoot coding-related issues and collaborate with IT support when necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Information Management, Nursing, or related healthcare discipline).

Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in clinical coding or a related field, with a focus on real-world data and healthcare coding standards.
Environment
- Work setting is hybrid, combining both in-office and remote work. The position is based in Bengaluru Luxor North Tower.
Salary
- Estimated salary range: ₹6,500,000.
