Analytics Scientist – UPI\

Job Summary

The Analytics Scientist – UPI role is focused on detecting and preventing fraud within the UPI and QR transaction frameworks. The position involves working with transaction data to identify suspicious patterns, developing machine learning models, and collaborating with various teams to enhance transaction safety and customer trust.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing UPI and QR transaction data to detect suspicious patterns.
• Contribute to rule-based and ML-assisted models to identify abnormal payment behavior.
• Support device fingerprinting, location-based risk analysis, and velocity checks.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate basic fraud detection rules into payment systems.
• Work alongside senior analysts to build and test supervised/unsupervised machine learning models.
• Explore trends and anomalies in transaction data such as high-frequency usage or mismatches in device/location.
• Monitor model performance and fine-tune risk thresholds.
• Interpret and apply NPCI and RBI fraud risk guidelines to support internal controls.

Qualifications

• Experience: Approximately 1.5 years in fraud analytics, data science, or risk analysis in UPI or digital payments.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Python and SQL; familiarity with tools such as Pandas and scikit-learn.
• Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities using data to uncover patterns.
• Learning Mindset: Eagerness to learn new tools and techniques under the guidance of senior team members.
• Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Educational Qualifications: Relevant degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Additional experience with advanced statistical methods or machine learning techniques is a plus.

Experience

• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in fraud analytics, data science, or risk analysis, particularly within UPI or digital payments.

Salary

Estimated salary range: ₹2,000,000 - ₹2,500,000.
