Job Summary

The Mainframe Testing role is responsible for executing testing processes within the mainframe environment, ensuring the reliability and performance of applications through various stages of the software development lifecycle. The candidate will play a crucial part in analyzing test scenarios, preparing test cases, and collaborating with development/support teams to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Create and document the Test Strategy/Test Plan to define the scope and approach of testing.
• Analyze requirements and identify test scenarios to design detailed test cases.
• Prepare test data and test JCL according to identified test scenarios.
• Execute test cases by submitting jobs, analyzing results, and reporting issues.
• Coordinate with the development/support team to address and fix reported errors.
• Participate in capability building and upskilling programs, contributing to training initiatives within the practice.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Z/OS Mainframe, JCL, DB2, IBM Utilities, TSO/ISPF commands.
  • Knowledge of editing JCL to submit test batch jobs.
  • Familiarity with analyzing logs in spool for abended jobs and providing root cause analysis.
  • Skills in editing mainframe files using layouts/copybooks through FileAid.
  • Experience with STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle) and Agile methodologies.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 6+ years in testing lifecycle processes, including creation of test cases, test data, and execution based on requirements/design.

Preferred Skills

• Good to have technical skills:
  • Experience in Cloud Infrastructure Testing (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Skills in Test Environment Management.

Experience

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in mainframe testing.
