Job Summary
The General Manager / Senior Manager – HR will lead Plant HR and Industrial HR operations at our Umbergaon manufacturing facility. This role is critical for managing the complete HR function at the plant, ensuring effective workforce management, employee engagement, industrial relations, statutory compliance, manpower planning, and implementation of HR policies and processes. The ideal candidate should have robust experience in plant HR or industrial relations within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Plant HR & Workforce Management
- Manage the complete HR function for the manufacturing plant.
- Drive manpower planning, recruitment, deployment, and workforce productivity.
- Coordinate with production and operations teams to ensure manpower planning and availability.
- Monitor workforce attendance, absenteeism, overtime, shift management, and discipline.
- Develop initiatives for manpower productivity and workforce optimization.
Industrial Relations
- Manage day-to-day industrial relations at the plant.
- Address employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and workforce-related issues.
- Maintain positive relations with employees, workmen representatives, and contractors.
- Support the resolution of industrial disputes and employee concerns.
- Conduct regular employee engagement and communication initiatives.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and statutory requirements.
- Manage factory-related labor compliance, registers, records, and documentation.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and audits.
- Oversee compliance regarding contract labor, wages, working hours, and employee welfare.
Recruitment & Talent Management
- Manage recruitment for plant-level positions across various categories.
- Build manpower pipelines for critical plant positions.
- Support onboarding, induction, and workforce deployment processes.
- Identify training and skill-development requirements.
- Drive employee development and internal capability-building initiatives.
Performance & Employee Engagement
- Implement performance management processes at the plant.
- Drive employee engagement, welfare, and retention initiatives.
- Conduct employee connect programs and engagement activities.
- Identify attrition trends and implement corrective measures.
HR Operations & MIS
- Monitor HR metrics including headcount, absenteeism, attrition, and manpower costs.
- Prepare and present HR MIS and dashboards to plant and senior management.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Ensure effective implementation of HR policies and processes at the plant.
Business Partnering
- Collaborate closely with Plant Head, Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Finance, and other functions.
- Act as the HR business partner for plant leadership.
- Provide HR inputs for operational planning and workforce decisions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing/plant/industrial environment.
- Strong exposure to Plant HR and Industrial Relations.
- Experience managing blue-collar/workmen/contract labour is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and statutory compliance.
- Experience in manpower planning, recruitment, employee engagement, and grievance handling.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and people-management skills.
- Ability to independently manage plant HR operations.
- Candidates with experience from FMCG, consumer goods, manufacturing, stationery, packaging, engineering, or similar industries are preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with HR metrics and analytics.
- Experience in implementing HR process improvement and automation initiatives.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years in a relevant HR role, specifically within manufacturing or industrial environments.
Environment
- The role is based in Umbergaon, Gujarat, and requires willingness to work 6 days a week. The typical work setting includes a busy manufacturing environment.

- Umbergaon, Valsad, Gujarat. DOMS's registered and corporate offices are located in Umbergaon, along with multiple manufacturing facilities in the Umbergaon industrial area.
