Job Summary

The Microsoft Fabric SQL Developer is responsible for programming and modifying SQL scripts to facilitate the migration of objects from Azure SQL to Fabric SQL. This role requires a solid understanding of both environments, particularly the differences in feature sets, to ensure the seamless operation of data objects developed in Azure SQL in a Fabric SQL setting.

Responsibilities

  • Write and modify SQL Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts for objects requiring migration from Azure SQL to Fabric SQL.
  • Write and modify Transact-SQL (T-SQL) programming code scripts for objects needing migration from Azure SQL to Fabric SQL.
  • Compare SQL DDL object definitions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) Finance & Operations with objects created in Fabric SQL, ensuring proper population from Synapse Link data feeds.
  • Create new SQL objects in Fabric SQL based on the object definitions from D365 Finance & Operations.
  • Determine and create necessary objects in Fabric SQL to support Synapse Link data sourced from D365 Finance & Operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an SQL Developer specializing in both Fabric SQL and Azure SQL Server.
  • In-depth knowledge of the differences between Fabric SQL and Azure SQL.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Azure SQL and Fabric SQL certifications are a plus.
  • Experience writing Azure SQL Data Manipulation Language (DML) queries, SQL DDL, stored procedures, and functions using SQL Server's T-SQL programming language.
  • Proven ability to translate and optimize performance of Fabric SQL DML queries.
  • Experience converting procedures and functions from Azure SQL to Fabric SQL, including adapting available functions in Azure SQL to suitable equivalents in Fabric SQL.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with SQL Server management tools and environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
