Job Summary
We are seeking a sharp, self-starting Communications Manager to establish Slovic's corporate voice from the ground up. This role will encompass building founder platforms, managing earned media, and enhancing industry presence through various channels such as LinkedIn, speaking engagements, award entries, jury invitations, and bylined content. Exceptional writing skills are essential, with an emphasis on converting technical material into compelling stories for the press.
Responsibilities
- Own the founders’ LinkedIn presence end-to-end, including content calendar management, drafting in each founder’s distinct voice, establishing a posting cadence, engaging with comments, and driving audience growth.
- Manage the industry presence pipeline, handling tasks such as speaking proposals, conference Calls for Proposals (CFPs), award entries, jury and advisory invitations, and participation in industry bodies.
- Ghost-write bylined articles and expert commentary for the founders on topics like consumer supply chains, quick commerce, applied AI in retail, and the India sports category.
- Build and maintain relationships with business, retail, startup, and tech press to enhance visibility.
- Support senior hiring initiatives by increasing founder and company visibility.
- Maintain a messaging house to ensure consistency across LinkedIn, press releases, hiring collateral, and public commentary.
- Operate the opportunity tracker to manage deadlines, submissions, and follow-up tasks effectively.
Qualifications
- Exceptional writing skills are non-negotiable; capability to draft in another's voice and adapt to distinct styles.
- Strong understanding of LinkedIn dynamics; able to discern what content performs well versus what may be perceived as corporate filler.
- 2–4 years of experience in journalism, public relations agency roles, in-house communications, or founder-led content management.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and maintain follow-up for tasks.
- Self-starter mentality; comfortable operating without an established function or agency oversight.
- Comfort and capability to engage with technical subject matter; able to derive stories from interviews with engineers.
- Strong editorial judgment; able to distinguish between a compelling story and mere announcements.
- Discretion in handling commercially sensitive information.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with metrics that value impact over volume in press coverage.
- Experience working directly with founders and business stories.
Experience
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in journalism, public relations, or communications.
