Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Netezza Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Netezza Data Warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations of the Netezza platform while supporting business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Netezza appliances and environments.
  • Monitor and manage database performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Work with developers and business users to optimize SQL queries and workloads.
  • Manage user access, roles, and security within the Netezza environment.
  • Perform proactive monitoring, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches/fixes as needed.
  • Provide production support and resolve performance-related bottlenecks.
  • Document processes, best practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business analysts on data warehouse initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM Netezza Database Administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Netezza architecture, performance tuning, and workload management (WLM).
  • Proficiency in SQL, shell scripting, and Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data warehouse concepts, and BI tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouse solutions (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Python/Perl scripting for automation.
  • Exposure to data governance and security best practices.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required.
