Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Area Credit Manager to join our team, passionate about credit and capable of collaborating with various stakeholders. This individual contributor role is essential for assessing borrower profiles, repayment capacity, and income stability to support the housing finance ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Assess borrower profiles, including repayment capacity and income stability.
- Visit business premises, properties, and residences of customers during the due diligence process.
- Understand the actual business income and expenses beyond the reported figures.
- Analyze customer business requirements from their perspective.
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of customers and their intention to repay loans through thorough document analysis and personal observations.
- Study and interpret legal and technical reports related to properties.
- Underwrite and sanction home loan/loan against property files sourced by the sales team.
- Address post-sanction conditions prior to disbursement based on queries raised by the team.
- Coordinate and communicate with different departments to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Maintain turnaround time (TAT) as per guidelines and manage cases toward decision points.
- Adhere to policies and processes outlined by the Central team for all loan applications.
- Monitor trends related to non-starters and first EMI bounce cases.
- Report on various Management Information Systems (MIS) to assess portfolio performance and risk.
- Continuously improve underwriting capability based on portfolio performance insights.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in credit management.
- Strong knowledge of the affordable home segment.
- Proficient in assessing financial documents and legal compliance.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration.
- Capability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with underwriting processes and risk assessment frameworks.
Preferred Skills
- Additional certifications in credit analysis or finance would be a plus.
- Experience with digital tools and software related to credit analysis and risk management.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in credit management, with a focus on the housing finance sector.
Environment
- This role will be based in Mumbai and is a full-time position. It primarily involves field visits to customers' premises as part of the assessment process.
