Job Summary

The Cloud Platform & Engineering Lead is responsible for designing, building, and evolving Mahindra Manulife's cloud platform to ensure it is secure, scalable, and automated. This role serves as the primary owner of the AWS cloud platform, establishing standards, automation frameworks, and developer self-service capabilities to enable rapid product delivery and support business growth. The position requires close collaboration with security, governance, and infrastructure teams to embed security, resilience, and compliance by design.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Platform Architecture
  • Define and implement the cloud platform roadmap.
  • Design AWS landing zones, network architecture, and environment segregation.
  • Establish platform standards, guardrails, and reference architectures.
  • Ensure platform scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Platform Engineering & Automation
  • Build and operate the Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and GitOps practices.
  • Deliver reusable templates, modules, and self-service capabilities.
  • Drive automation across provisioning, deployment, and operations.
• DevSecOps & Release Engineering
  • Design and operate CI/CD pipelines.
  • Embed security and compliance controls within delivery processes.
  • Implement modern deployment practices such as blue-green and canary releases.
  • Promote engineering reliability and operational excellence.
• Security by Design
  • Embed security controls into platform architecture and standards.
  • Implement Zero Trust, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), encryption, and secrets management.
  • Partner with Security and Governance teams to ensure controls are effective and auditable.
• AI & Data Platform Enablement
  • Enable cloud infrastructure for AI, Machine Learning (ML), and data workloads.
  • Support secure MLOps and cloud-native data platforms.
  • Prepare platforms to support future AI adoption at scale.
• Governance & Compliance
  • Define platform guardrails and engineering standards.
  • Support regulatory and audit requirements through policy-driven controls.
  • Maintain a compliant and audit-ready cloud platform.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills
  • Extensive experience with AWS Cloud & Landing Zones.
  • Strong knowledge of Platform Engineering & IDP.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes (EKS) and containerization.
  • Expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of DevSecOps practices.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Networking.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust, IAM & PAM.
  • Cloud security architecture expertise.
  • Strong background in Enterprise Architecture.
• Leadership & Management
  • Proven engineering leadership skills.
  • Effective stakeholder and vendor management.
• Educational Qualifications
  • Relevant degree (e.g., BTech, BSc, MSc, or equivalent).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI/ML Infrastructure & MLOps.
• Knowledge of Databricks & Data Platforms.
• Familiarity with Serverless Architecture.
• Experience with Multi-Region Cloud Design.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & Reliability Engineering.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Skills in FinOps & Cost Optimization.
• Understanding of Policy-as-Code.
• Experience in Insurance / BFSI sector.
• Relevant AWS Professional Certifications.
• Certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or TOGAF.

Experience

• 10–15 years of experience in cloud architecture and platform engineering.
• Proven track record of building enterprise-scale cloud platforms on AWS.
• Demonstrated expertise in Kubernetes, automation, and DevSecOps.
• Experience in establishing engineering standards and operating models.
