MySQL DBA

Job Summary

The MySQL DBA will be responsible for managing and maintaining MySQL databases, particularly within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments. This role involves enhancing database performance, ensuring data integrity and availability, and supporting database migrations. The DBA plays a crucial role in optimizing database operations to align with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain MySQL databases on AWS RDS.
• Perform performance tuning and complex query optimization.
• Conduct database migrations from on-premises to AWS RDS and vice versa.
• Implement backup and recovery techniques for data protection.
• Monitor MySQL master-slave replication and manage AWS Database Migration Service.
• Install, configure, and upgrade MySQL RDS databases, including migrating RDS snapshots between accounts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a MySQL Database Administrator on AWS RDS.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL database architecture and internals.
• Proficient understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery tools and techniques.
• Good experience with performance tuning and complex query optimization.
• Understanding of MySQL master-slave replication.
• Experience in migrating databases between on-premises and AWS.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and Windows operating systems is an added advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AWS cloud environment.
• Familiarity with AWS Database Migration Service.
