Job Summary

As a Founding Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the off-chain systems that enhance the usability and observability of our protocol. Your work will encompass various functions including indexing, API development, risk dashboards, internal tools, analytics, monitoring, and automated services surrounding the protocol.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliable backend systems utilizing Rust or Golang.
• Construct APIs and tools that ensure efficient interaction with on-chain data without treating it merely as database entries.
• Implement robust indexing and event pipelines for high-throughput blockchain data.
• Design and monitor risk dashboards and analytics for better decision-making.
• Create internal tools that boost operational efficiency and observability.
• Balance the need for speed in development with the necessity for infrastructure stability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Rust or Golang, with experience in TypeScript for frontend work.
• Strong foundational knowledge in databases, APIs, queue management, and observability.
• Familiarity with on-chain indexing, remote procedure calls (RPC), and event pipelines.
• Understanding of DeFi concepts including positions, collateral, profit and loss (PnL), liquidations, funding, and oracle data.
• Demonstrated history of building production-quality systems such as indexers, trading infrastructure, keeper systems, or risk dashboards.
• A keen sense of operational reliability and correctness in protocol state reconciliation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create fast, non-brittle infrastructure.

Preferred Skills

• Additional experience with scaling systems for high throughput environments.
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies and decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools to ensure system reliability.
