Job Summary
The AVP Investment Operations (Loan Settlement) role is crucial in ensuring accurate and timely settlement of loan transactions. This position involves overseeing reconciliation processes, managing trade settlements, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and compliance within the investment management domain.
Responsibilities
- Perform reconciliation on traded quantities and ensure trades align with counterparties.
- Conduct timely cross-checking of trades with funding memos and Clear Par, booking trade fees as per funding memo.
- Monitor payout letters and distressed trades, addressing any discrepancies as needed.
- Utilize a keen eye for problem-solving to identify and resolve position and cash breaks, contacting agent banks or administrators for resolution.
- Demonstrate knowledge in trade closure and settlement processes, as well as warehouse closings and portfolio redemption trade settlements.
- Handle loan restructures and corporate action events effectively while managing non-loan settlements, including foreign exchange (FX) and bonds.
- Direct fund administrators and custodian banks for accurate processing and review of reconciliation outputs.
- Research, resolve, and prevent all settlement and corporate action cash and par breaks with custodians and third-party administrators.
- Manage settlement-related audit requests and collaborate with stakeholders to improve settlement workflows.
- Prepare and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) reports daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly; knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
- Review daily reconciliations between internal systems and third parties, resolving discrepancies, including MLR discrepancies.
- Maintain efficient mailbox management to handle workflow assignments and participate in decisions on policies/procedures ensuring compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Finance or a related discipline.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong fixed-income product knowledge, particularly in bank loans.
- Understanding of cross-trade settlements and custodian bank/administrator data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Familiarity with Clearpar, Wall Street Office - Admin, Order Management Systems (OMS), and Geneva.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10-12 years of investment management operations experience, with a strong emphasis on bank loan operations.
- Experience working with outsource/offshore service providers.
- Experience in trade settlements adhering to LMA and LSTA standards.
- Knowledge of Python, Power BI, or any other automation tool is an added advantage.

- Proficiency in using automation tools and systems beyond the core responsibilities could enhance efficiency.
