Job Summary

The objective of this position is to prepare the construction budgets, monitor all spending, bills, and cost reports, perform item rate analysis, develop tender documents, and submit relevant reports to management in a timely manner for multiple large-sized projects in the South Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Calculate quantities based on received drawings and analyze coordination with Architects, Structural, and MEP consultants.
  • Budget Monitoring: Create budgets for various projects at different life stages and submit timely reports comparing budget vs. actual costs.
  • Cost Leadership: Generate innovative ideas to minimize costs for each project and track cost reduction percentages.
  • Project Review Meetings: Coordinate with multiple site resources to conduct weekly project review meetings to update other departments on project status.
  • Process Adherence: Ensure compliance with company-defined guidelines and processes, adhering to project timelines.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity within the work area.
  • People Management and Development: Handle a large team of at least 8-10 members, identifying and pursuing self-development and team development opportunities through various training and educational initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience: 15 years of experience, with a minimum of 12 years in leading Costing & Budgeting/Tendering.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • High quantitative aptitude
    • Awareness of new technologies in the construction industry
    • Knowledge of SAP, MS Project, ACONEX, AutoCAD, MS Excel is an added advantage
    • Awareness of design principles
    • Familiarity with construction practices including quality and safety norms

Preferred Skills

  • Additional knowledge in advanced construction management systems and software tools can be beneficial.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, specifically in costing and budgeting roles within the construction industry.
