Job Summary

The role of Assistant Manager / Manager – Product Development & Design is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of woven fabric development, from conceptualization to commercialization. The position requires technical expertise in fabric construction, weaving, and processing, ensuring the creation of innovative fabrics that meet quality standards and customer requirements. The role involves collaboration across departments and with clients to deliver high-quality, market-ready fabric products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of woven fabrics, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with design concepts.
• Manage the entire product development process, including fabric construction, weaving, processing, and color matching.
• Conduct counter-swatch analysis and evaluate technical feasibility for new fabric ideas.
• Develop fabrics using special yarns, unique weave textures, and innovative techniques.
• Troubleshoot technical issues from initial development through to commercial production.
• Coordinate with Planning, Production, Marketing, and Customers to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
• Handle fabric development projects for both domestic and export customers.
• Provide technical training and guidance to team members to enhance skill levels and ensure best practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in woven fabric Product Development / Design.
• Strong knowledge of fabric construction, weaving, processing, and color sensitivity.
• Experience with both stretch and non-stretch fabric development.
• Deep understanding of product feasibility and weaving/processing runability.
• Hands-on experience with Penelope, TexCAD, and Shima Seiki software.
• Proven ability in counter-swatch analysis and technical feasibility evaluation.
• Experience developing fabrics using special yarns and weave textures.
• Strong troubleshooting skills from development to commercial production.
• Excellent coordination skills with cross-functional teams and clients.
• Experience working with domestic and export customer developments.
• Ability to provide team training and technical guidance.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of advanced weaving techniques and fabric engineering.
• Familiarity with international fabric standards and quality assurance processes.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Experience

• Minimum of 8+ years in woven fabric product development or design.
• Proven track record of taking fabric developments from concept through to commercialization.
• Experience working with both domestic and international clients.
