Job Summary
As a Quant Engineer, you will leverage your strong Python skills to develop and productionize quant models into robust software applications. You will collaborate closely with quantitative analysts and traders, translating their needs into actionable software product requirements. Your contributions will ensure the seamless operation and monitoring of quantitative systems, ultimately supporting the organization's trading strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications that operationalize quant models, ensuring robustness and reliability.
- Translate the needs of traders and quantitative analysts into precise software product requirements.
- Prototype and implement efficient data pipelines using technologies such as PySpark and Kafka.
- Collaborate closely with analysts and quants during model development, providing technical support and coaching.
- Produce scalable, secure, and high-performance software while adhering to best practices and defined IT standards.
- Mentor and coach teammates in Quant Engineering, fostering a culture of skill development within the team.
- Ensure documentation and analysis results are accessible and understandable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Engage in agile methodologies, participating in team ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a STEM field, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant field of applied mathematics.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience as a software developer or data scientist.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Python and its scientific stack (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Stats).
- Experienced with a second strongly typed programming language (e.g., C#, C++, Rust, Java).
- Mastery of SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data pipeline orchestration tools.
- Strong understanding of trading terminology and financial derivatives achieved through experience in a trading or finance environment.
- Expertise in application design, security, release management, testing, and packaging.
- Strong capabilities in concurrent/distributed programming and performance optimization techniques.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of data engineering frameworks and technologies, including but not limited to lakehouses and Kafka.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly Azure, and DevOps practices utilizing Docker and Terraform.
- Prior experience in energy commodities and/or financial trading environments.
Experience
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in software development or data science, particularly in a trading or finance context.
