Job Description
Operations Lead
Job Summary
The Operations Lead will oversee the post-order confirmation processes, ensuring seamless dispatch, transportation, delivery, and reconciliation across Source.One. This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling operations in coordination with the newly designed Order Manager function, focusing on running, improving, and automating processes rather than creating them from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Own post-order-confirmation fulfillment end to end — coordinating dispatch, transportation, delivery, and collections as a unified process.
- Continuously improve the Order Manager operating model, refining workflows, service level agreements (SLAs), and handoffs as the business expands.
- Lead a team of 12–15 across three functions: Order Success, Transporter Success, and Driver Success; set performance standards, coach managers, and oversee hiring and evaluation.
- Manage transporter/freight operations involving rate discovery, vehicle placement, and on-time performance, while collaborating with the transporter network to enhance reliability and reduce costs.
- Identify and drive process automation by collaborating closely with Product/Tech teams to address manual, error-prone, or slow steps in the post-order workflow.
- Own operational metrics related to dispatch-to-delivery turnaround time (TAT), exceptions/escalations, freight costs per order, and collection cycle time; regularly report these metrics to leadership.
- Create playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support function scalability to 5–10 times current order volumes without proportional increases in headcount.
Qualifications
- 6–12 years of experience in operations, with significant exposure to truck transportation or freight operations (i.e., own fleet, brokered, or managed marketplace).
- Experience in large-scale trading/commodities distribution, a Transportation Management System (TMS) business, or a platform/marketplace commerce business with back-to-back order flows.
- Demonstrated product mindset; ability to collaborate with tech/product teams to transform operational challenges into automated solutions rather than just enhancing manual processes.
- Strong process orientation; experience in designing or redesigning operational processes from scratch.
- Proven people leadership skills with experience managing multi-person teams across various functions and geographies.
- Ability to function effectively in ambiguous environments with a high pace of change; the role will involve redesigning processes rather than managing a pre-existing system.
- Bonus: Familiarity with industrial commodities (e.g., polymers, chemicals, paper, metals) or B2B fintech/supply chain finance operations.
Preferred Skills
- Additional experience or knowledge in logistics technology and supply chain optimization.
- Proficiency in utilizing data analytics tools for performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
Experience
- A minimum of 6–12 years in relevant operational roles, with practical experience in industries tied to transportation and logistics.
Environment
- The position is based in Pune and involves managing a team of operations personnel. This role may also require interaction with various partners across different geographical locations.
