Job Summary
The Data Engineer QA role focuses on ensuring the quality and integrity of data through robust testing practices. This position is critical in validating data pipelines and performing quality assurance on data transformations. The Data Engineer QA will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the overall data management strategy, ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust ETL test frameworks to validate data pipelines and transformations.
- Perform functional and regression testing on data pipelines, workflows, and integrations.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium and Java/Python.
- Conduct data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems.
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Work closely with QA leads, developers, and business analysts to align testing strategies with project goals.
- Maintain thorough documentation of test plans, test cases, and test results.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in QA and ETL testing.
- Strong hands-on experience in ETL Testing (data pipelines, data validation, transformation logic).
- Proficient in Selenium automation (preferably Java or Python-based).
- Experience working with large datasets, SQL queries, and data profiling tools.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test automation tools.
Experience
- Candidates must possess 5+ years of relevant experience in QA and ETL testing.
Environment
- This position is remote, with an expectation of 1–2 days per month in an HCL office located in Noida, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, or Indore.
