Job Summary

The Lab Shift In-charge is responsible for the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of battery testing protocols during their assigned shift. This hands-on role emphasizes lab operations, test execution integrity, data collection accuracy, and maintaining the operational readiness of all testing assets and the lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Test Execution and Quality Assurance

    • Conduct and supervise assigned component-level reliability and electrical testing on lab chambers/rigs.
    • Accurately assemble, configure, and verify complex test setups and equipment per established protocols and test plans.
    • Execute and deliver assigned Swimlane and sprint tasks on schedule.
    • Strictly adhere to all test standards, inspection procedures, and defined safety protocols (e.g., thermal runaway, high voltage safety).
  • Data Management and Reporting

    • Collect, record, and verify the accuracy of all test data logs, status, and initial observations.
    • Promptly identify, document, and report failures or anomalies, providing supporting data to management.
    • Provide detailed execution data and feedback to assist the Test Engineer/Sr. Test Engineer with Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
    • Prepare and deliver detailed shift changeover reports communicating progress, critical issues, and next steps to the relieving shift and management.
  • Lab Operations and Maintenance

    • Ensure the immediate lab environment, including rigs and chambers, is clean, organized, and operational.
    • Assist with routine maintenance and calibration monitoring for lab equipment, escalating necessary repairs and technical issues to the maintenance team promptly.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment in the battery testing lab during the shift.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience

    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a testing lab, manufacturing, or operations environment, preferably with exposure to battery packs or high-voltage electrical systems.
    • Able to work in rotational shifts 6 days a week (1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts).
  • Technical and Operational Skills

    • Demonstrated hands-on experience with battery testing equipment and data acquisition systems.
    • Foundational understanding of reliability testing standards and procedures.
    • Proficiency in data recording and reporting using tools such as Excel or similar lab-specific software.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in test setup and data collection.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear written and verbal reports for shift handovers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to promptly identify and troubleshoot equipment or test anomalies.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in testing labs or manufacturing settings, with exposure to battery or high-voltage systems.

Environment

  • This role is based at the Jauggurnaut lab in Begur, involving work in a controlled lab environment. The position requires the ability to work on a rotational shift basis.
