BMS Hardware System Architect

Job Summary

The BMS Hardware System Architect will design and develop Battery Management System (BMS) hardware for the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) domain. This role is crucial for ensuring timely delivery of high-quality modules and systems while engaging directly with customers to provide solutions for complex use cases and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect BMS hardware systems for the BESS domain.
  • Ensure compliance with layout, EMI-EMC aspects, and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver modules and systems on time with a focus on quality.
  • Engage in customer-facing roles to solve complex use cases on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Utilize simulation tools for testing and verifying designs.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: BE/BTech/MTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)

  • Key Skills:

    • Demonstrated experience developing BMS for energy storage/energy storage systems (ESS).
    • Rich hands-on experience in architecting power electronics concepts for BMS.
    • Strong design knowledge in digital circuit design, analog circuit design, Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), operational amplifiers (OP Amps), microprocessors, microcontrollers, and Digital Signal Processors (DSP).
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for lithium-ion batteries for energy storage applications, including UL9540, UL1973, IEC62619, and IEC60730.
    • Understanding of PCB layout constraints.
    • Experience with analog front-end circuit design for lithium-ion batteries.
    • Proficient use of simulation tools, such as P-Spice, MATLAB, and Mathcad.
    • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
    • Familiarity with various sensing technologies, including temperature and voltage sensors.
    • Experience with hardware peripherals and communication circuit design.
    • Knowledge in power supply design and MOSFET driving.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of safety regulatory standards like IEC61508 and ISO26262 when building hardware designs.
  • Familiarity with contactors and relays.
  • Working knowledge of safety-critical features such as charge control, thermal control, fault detection, and diagnostics for battery and energy products.

Experience

  • Years of Experience: 12-14 years in relevant fields.
